The Ballarat Poetess (Work-in-Progress Showing)
Event description
In an impossible collaboration spanning 175 years, Megan J Riedl contemplates what it means to be the voice of a city.
Emerging from the ashes of her predecessor Ellen Young’s gold-rush era corset and crinoline, Megan J Riedl explores how impactful moments of social change can be marked by the carefully crafted voices of difficult women.
In a work-in-progress showing of her debut full-length solo performance, Megan J Riedl ponders the power of the poetic voice – in finding resting places, in the cathartic nature of capturing the here & now, and in the dichotomy of searing truth-telling wrapped up in euphonic language.
Give this woman a soap-box.
This event is a showing of Work-in-Progress on a new performance.
