The Beginners Guide to Composting for Raised Garden Beds
Event description
We are very fortunate to have agricultural scientist and soil microbiology expert Dr Sandra Tuszynska back in Noosa!
Dr Tuszynska has a deep, intimate relationship with the microorganisms, and she is an authority on creating healthy soil by working with the ecosystems between the soil mineral content, biomes, and plants. Currently, through the lenses of her microscope, she is finding the "superpowers" of our little friends and will enthusiastically sharing her research.
Last year, Dr Tuszynska facilitated a very successful workshop on the value of the new “Worm Flow” system of worm farming at the Cooroy Community Permaculture Gardens involving the creation of 26 worm flow systems.
Watch as Councillor Tom Wegener explores the Cooroy Community Permaculture Gardens with Dr Tusznska in August of 2022.
This year, Noosa Council is pleased to be sponsoring the return of Dr Tuszynska to the Noosa community with a workshop presentation at Peregian Beach. The Beginners Guide to Composting for Raised Garden Beds session will begin with a presentation from Dr Tuszynska at the Peregian Beach Community House, followed by a stroll to the Peregian Beach Veggie Village where a year-old Worm Flow will be explored. A tour of the Veggie Village will follow where local composting insights will be shared and questions answered.
The workshop is focused on encouraging the community to live more sustainably and divert organic waste from landfill by composting in their own backyards!
