What is The Big Dinner?

The Big Dinner is an online and in-person hybrid event that invites people to host dinners around the world, while tuning into a live podcast / conversation format hosted by The Voicecraft Network.

Your ticket gives you access to tune into the online component. Members, guests, and friends across the broader network space are encouraged to invite friends over to share some food, tune in, and continue the conversation in your own space.

This event follows a gift economy ethos. If finances are tight, you are welcome to attend at no cost. Similarly, hosts can also choose to invite guests at no cost.

Our topic: Future Human

The transmission welcomes Simon van der Els, Carl Hayden Smith, Sarah Janes, Pamela von Sabljar, joined by Tim Adalin and Jon Garner (all of whom have appeared on Voicecraft's Altered States of Conversation podcast.)

At this Big Dinner, we will be following a process led by Simon: "cultivating a manner of group sensing which is highly intuitive, mainly focussed on sinking into somatic awareness and monitoring the images that arise. We will use the word to navigate and orient, as well as shape the field we're interacting with.

In this format we'll host and create a shared field with a small pool of invited voices, while others at home can 'tune in' on that collective field. It is a form of group active imagination."

This process will combine with the dialogic exploration that participants and listeners will be familiar with from the podcast, live events, and network sessions.

We will also be joined by Voicecraft member and artist Jon Garner who will be creating art in response to themes.

About the speakers

Carl Hayden Smith - Hyperhuman theorist, psychonaut, and founder of The Museum of Consciousness. Associate Professor of Media in the School of Arts & Creative Industries at UEL and is the former Head of Research and Director of the Learning Technology Research Centre (LTRC) at the Institute for Creativity & Technology, Ravensbourne University London.

Pamela von Sabljar - Pamela von Sabljar is a new breed of speaker, facilitator, and mentor working at the evolutionary edge. She practices dialoguing, sensing, creating, and leading from this ever-emergent edge. She calls this Living from Eros.

Simon van der Els - Simon van der Els is a student of the invisible realm. He holds a PhD title in the empirical tradition of molecular microbiology. He also explores the subjective realm of shamanism, as a way of re-discovering the interiority of the living cosmos, and assisting in healing of Gaia.

Sarah Janes - Author, researcher, curator, retreat/workshop facilitator and public speaker, Sarah Janes specialises in the ancient history and culture of dreaming and has been an enthusiastic lucid dreamer since childhood.

Jon Garner - Jon Garner is an artist rooted in family and community life and a contributor to the Voicecraft Network. His work explores the tension between wildness and structure through painting, story, and reflective practice. He will be providing live art as part of the field on the evening.

Tim Adalin - Philosopher, speaker, and connector of people, ideas, and praxis. He loves to bring thought to life in conversation. Founder of The Voicecraft Project, Underground Philosophy, and host of the Altered States Of Conversation podcast.
