Prepare for another epic culinary showdown to discover how rescued ingredients can be turned into gourmet delights as The Great Big Rescue Cook-Off returns for its next iteration. This time, two master chefs will face off to create a 2-course feast using Kai Conscious rescued ingredients. With Aotearoa sending $1.17 billion’s worth of avoidable discarded food to landfill yearly, our guest chefs will showcase how any variety of ingredients can be transformed into a delicious dinner - that you will get to taste!

🧑🏼‍🍳Head chef Phil from Cable Bay Vineyards moved to Waiheke in early 2023 after being in South Korea and Vietnam on a culinary journey for two months. Before his time away, Phil was working at Paris Butter in Auckland. With almost two decades of chef experience, Phil says, "I am still learning new things everyday and looking forward to networking with the locals and sharing my experiences and knowledge with the guests."

🧑🏼‍🍳Chef de Cuisine Axel from Tantalus Estate Vineyard describes himself as a passionate French chef who started on his chef journey by working in Lyon, France for 5 years before coming to New Zealand in 2017. A resident of Waiheke Island since then, he's developed a passion for using locally foraged produce in his dishes. Axel worked as a chef at Mudbrick for 3 years and then moved to Tantalus Estate early in 2021.

The Cook-Off is not just a culinary competition; it's a flavourful journey towards reducing waste, supporting local growers, and fostering community resilience.
