About Dan

I'm a seasoned professional in the health and wellness industry, with over 25+ years of experience.

My journey in the health and wellness industry has been shaped by a deep passion for holistic healing practices in both Eastern and Western medical traditions. Over the past 20+ years, I have travelled extensively throughout India, immersing myself in the eastern healing traditions of Yoga, Ayurveda and Theravada Buddhism. These transformative experiences have helped my practice and enriched my understanding of the healing powers of osteopathy.

My yoga journey started in 1998, I completed my first 24 month yoga teacher training with the IYTA in New Zealand, soon after I went to India for my first time where I fell in love with Ashtanga Yoga. In 2003 I completed a 500hr intensive nine-month teacher training with Lousia Seers in Byron Bay before moving to Sydney in 2004 to study and teach with Eileen Hall at Ashtanga Yoga Moves. It took me a further 12 years of travelling to India to receive my level 2 authorisation from the Ashtanga yoga institute in Mysore, India. In 2009 I opened Ashtanga Yoga Newcastle where I spent the next 10 years building a beautiful yoga community.

As an osteopath, I have a bachelor in applied science (human biology) and a masters in osteopathy. I have a special interest in diagnosing and treating neuromusculoskeletal conditions: I find the use of yoga practices in the short and long term management to be very effective in treatment outcomes. I am also passionate in teaching anatomy & physiology to yoga teachers & students, I find by understanding the depth of ourselves through the experience of yoga we build knowledge, once we understand that knowledge it leads to wisdom, wisdom grounded in knowledge can change someone's life.
