The Birth Commons: A Gathering

Event description

Come along to a relaxed & casual gathering for Sunshine Coast birthworkers. All birthworkers  welcome- doulas, midwives, birthkeepers, students, educators, body workers….anyone working with women & families in the pregnancy, labour & birth continuum; within any context, setting or experience- you are all so very welcome & wanted in this space.

The aim of this monthly event is to gather, build solidarity & relationships in our community and to share, learn & grow knowledges together, in a down-to-earth, accessible space. Everyone is teacher, everyone is student.

Beginning before the Spring Equinox, our first event will be largely a getting to know each other & exploring our birth work herstory here on the Sunshine Coast & within the wider community. Come from 9.30 am for 10am start.

Subsequent gatherings will have a topic or focus for everyone to bring their curiosity & knowledge to share. It is a relaxed discussion style gathering, not a circle, so please feel free to come & share you like.
Tickets have been made free to increase accessibility. If you can donate towards venue hire- please do on the day.
There will be tea available. Please BYO coffee (lots of nice cafes in Yandina) & snacks as wanted.

A couple of kind boundaries-

Respectfully, this is predominately a child-free space to allow for focus & connection, though there is a park next door for carers to utilise if needed.
Generally, this is a offline & social media free space so as to foster a sense of safety & grounded presence. It’s totally ok to take a picture or two but while we’re together, let’s just be together. ❤️

Come along & build good culture in our community, in respect & connection. Let’s build The Birth Commons.
