Join Dj's Flying Circus as we officially launch our debut album. Imagine a night filled with the infectious rhythms of Funk, the smooth vibes of Soul, and the joyful beats of Reggae and Jazz. From the moment you walk into the historic Westdale Theatre, you'll be surrounded by student-created art, a bustling marketplace of talented vendors, and the incredible energy of 20+ young creatives doing what they love.
Whether you’re here to dance the night away to our 9-piece band, be moved by our soulful poets, or just soak up the incredible atmosphere, we can't wait to see your smiling face in the crowd. Let’s make some memories together!

- What is "The Book of FUNK"?
"The Book of FUNK" is more than just a concert—it’s a multi-disciplinary celebration of Soul, Funk, Reggae, and Jazz. This event serves as the official album release party for Dj's Flying Circus, featuring a 9-piece band, tap dancer, spoken word poets, and a student-led vendor marketplace.
- What does "Sankofa" mean?
The theme of our showcase is rooted in the Ghanaian principle of Sankofa, which teaches us to reach back into our past to fetch what is valuable as we move forward. Our music honors the legends of Black musical history while innovating for the future.
- Where is the event located?
The event is being held at the historic Westdale Theatre (1014 King St W, Hamilton, ON).
- What are the ticket prices?
Student Admission: $16.00 (Valid student ID may be requested at the door).
General Admission: $33.00.
Note: All ticket revenue goes directly to supporting the 20+ student artists and vendors involved in the production.
- What is the schedule for the evening?
5:30 PM: Doors Open & Student Vendor Market (Lobby).
7:00 PM: Performance Begins (Theater).
9:00 PM: "The Funk Philosophy" Talkback Panel.
10:30 PM: Event Concludes.
- Will there be food or drinks?
The Westdale concession stand will be open for guests to purchase snacks and beverages throughout the evening.
- Is the venue accessible?
Yes, The Westdale is a fully accessible venue. If you have specific seating requirements, please contact us in advance or speak to a front-of-house staff member upon arrival.
- Can I buy tickets at the door?
While we recommend purchasing online to guarantee a seat, any remaining tickets will be available for purchase at the box office on the night of the event.
