The Breath & Ice

Event description

Benny is a certified Wim Hof Method Instructor and will be delivering a workshop based on this method and other practices he has utilised in his career in facing emergency situations. The workshop will predominantly be a breathwork session and an ice bath session.

You will learn to utilise oxygen and cold exposure to optimise your body & mind, and the underlying physiological changes that occur during both practices. You will gain a deep understanding of stress and fear, and you will move through both of these states throughout the workshop.

There may be emotional releases! This may be deep feelings of happiness, uncontrolled releases of tears, you may move through grief and loss and experience the occasional laughter. It is all welcome in the space we create together and is part of what the breathwork aspect of this workshop is designed to tap into - our deeply held emotions that our conscious body often blocks from allowing us to work through.

Staying true to Wim's mantra that "there is no program!", each workshop is different but will follow a similar path. There will be a practical breathwork exercise which will include a meditative experience at the end which can be groundbreaking for some people. You will then learn about the effect of cold exposure on the body and be coached through a cold immersion journey (always optional!).

If you have no prior experience with cold exposure, we recommend you finish your showers cold in the days leading up to the workshop. This may be overwhelming at first, but focus on your breath and bring it into a controlled, steady rhythm. You've got this.

There are no pre-requisites. Out of precaution, we advise against participation during pregnancy, or if you are epileptic. Please consult an integrative GP before participating if you have medicated high blood pressure. Other than that, if you can breathe then this workshop is for you.

What to bring:

  • Yoga mat
  • Towel
  • Swimmers
  • Water bottle
  • Light snack if you need it (fruit, energy bar etc.)
  • Warm clothes/blanket (some people prefer to be warm during and/or after the breathwork. They also come in handy after the ice bath)

We advise not to eat too heavily before the breathwork or the cold immersion.

Arrival from 8:45am for a 9am start.

Safe space, ice, love and good vibes provided.
