The BUgEtte in West End - Kay Proudlove (NSW), Fizzy Whisky
Event description
The BUgette is a fresh new venture from Brisbane Unplugged Gigs Inc, created to champion acoustic-style live music and further connect with acoutic music lovers and the younger Bohemian crowd in West End. We're all about growing Brisbane’s underground acoustic scene and creating a safe, vibrant space where creatives can connect, celebrate each other, and maybe even jump into a session or two.
THE FORMAT
The format for the evening is very similiar to The BUg (New Farm):
6.30pm - doors open (bar is actually open from 4pm)
7pm - up to 3 blackboard acts - 10 minutes max, 2 songs max. See the MC for a spot.
7.45pm - first featured act - Jack Meimaris & Friends
8.45pm - second featured act - Kay Proudlove (NSW)
Hosts: Kristy and Elyse from The Salty Sirens
THE VENUE
The venue is The End Bar, 73 Vulture Street, West End - gig home of The Salty Sirens. They will also be the hosts generally for the evenings.
The End is a laid-back bar in West End, known for its craft beers and cocktails. Its industrial-chic vibe is softened by lush greenery, vintage leather couches, a layered timber bar, and quirky nods to its past life.
THE FEATURE ACTS
8:45pm Kay Proudlove (NSW)
Emotional and witty, Kay is a Wollongong raised writer, performer and all round creative with a remarkably agile, engaging, honest, soul-bearing voice and a wry, dry-ice sense of humour. With a live performance style that is much like being invited into her lounge room, her songs are truly stories set to melody, by turns relatable, humorous and heartbreaking. Creating an intimacy between audience and performer through vulnerability, Kay's live work spans both music and theatre and is likely to leave you wondering whether all of her songs are about you.
7:45pm Fizzy Whisky
Jack Meimaris and Friends play Irish and Scottish traditional music with drive and lift. With some of the finest trad musicians around, the band blends powerful tunes and songs into a rich, modern sound that still honours the tradition, keeping the energy of a great session on stage.
