Songs & Stories with Roger Corbett and Dobe Newton of The Bushwackers

Triple Golden Guitar Winners and 2021 Australasian Country Music Roll Of Renown Inductees, The Bushwackers, are currently in their 53rd year of performing. The band has been kept busy this year with a steady flow of performances all over the countryside, from the Tamworth Country Music Festival, Cobargo Folk Festival and Stock Route Festival in NSW to the Melbourne Celtic Festival in VIC, and up to the Gympie Music Muster in QLD in August, with no signs of slowing down!

Despite their longevity, The Bushwackers saw a resurgence in popularity in 2023, fresh off their sensational run on The Voice, Australia, where they wowed audiences with their iconic anthem, I Am Australian, co-written by the band’s own Dobe Newton. “The Voice experience was a whirlwind of excitement”, says Roger, reminiscing about the rush of four chair turns, reconnecting with Jessica Mauboy, and the thunderous applause from fans across the country.  That moment captured the hearts of viewers around the nation and reminded fans that the pair are still very much around.

Whilst The Bushwackers full band shows are high energy with fans dancing in the aisles, the 'Songs & Stories' shows are a stripped back version with front men Dobe Newton and Roger Corbett sharing some of their most famous and lesser-known songs, and many of the stories behind them.  Forgoing that old adage "what happens on the road, stays on the road", Roger and Dobe will share some of the stories, humour and sense of history that has helped to forge our national identity, along with their all-Australian brand of music that we've all come to know and love.

The show will be opened by local Robbo songstress, Amber Kenny.
