The Cloud Maker
The Cloud Maker’s music celebrates goddesses from each of the five female master musician’s cultures. Channelling ancient tales of fierce battles, shaman dances, journeys to the after-life, and a moth goddess singing the most beautiful song of all time, The Cloud Maker harnesses the power of these archetypal stories to transport listeners across time and space. The all star lineup features the sounds of Te Kahureremoa Taumata (Voice/Taonga Pūoro- Maori Singing Treasures), Aviva Endean (Bass clarinet, Harmonic flutes and electronics) Freya Schack-Arnott (Cello/Nyckelharpa- Nordic fiddle), Maria Moles (Drums) and Sunny Kim (Voice). Woven together through sound and performance, they remember ancient bloodlines and breathe new life into old stories.
Winner of the APRA AMCOS Art Music Award (Performance of the Year). Their debut album will be released in February 2024.
Adrianna Svitak
Adrianna Svitak is an interdisciplinary artist from the United States, currently based in Naarm/Melbourne. She works with manipulated acoustic instrumentation, field recordings, tape loops and voice to weave densely textured sonic landscapes. Her sound is characterised by sustained tension, drawing on a sense of loss, longing and nostalgia to create a distinctive and deeply haunting atmosphere.
Adrianna studied at Manhattan School of Music, training extensively in composition, electronic music, and classical music performance, and has performed internationally for audiences upwards of 5,000 at concert halls across the United States, Mexico, India, and Asia. In Australia, she’s performed at the Leaps and Bounds Festival, Melbourne, Parramatta Lanes, Sydney, and MONA Museum, Tasmania.
Drawing on a range of influences and techniques from different musical traditions, Svitak’s second album sees dark moving swathes of auditory fragments, with ghostly vocals floating sweetly above; a world shaped to vacillate gently between tranquility and hysteria.
ACCESSIBILITY
Eastmint is accessible via wheelchair through the non main entrance, there is a small sliding door frame that we can place a ramp over the top of. Please get in touch if you require this option via email eastmintrecords@gmail.com. We regret we are unable to provide accessible toilet facilities at this time, although there is wheelchair access to the hand washing sink which is a private space. Closest accessible toilets located at the Peacock Hotel 150m away. There are no windows that are openable in the space but we will open the double doors between sets for airflow. The space is quite cavernous with high ceilings and is an un-renovated warehouse so not tightly sealed. We use a HEPA filter rated for 50m2 but the space is closer to 100m2. Please contact eastmintrecords@gmail.com if you require any other info.
