    Event description

Winner of the Most Outstanding Show at the 2021 Melbourne Comedy Festival, Gez’s deceptively effortless knack for turning low-key yarns into high-stakes, endlessly funny narrative rollercoasters means she is one of Australia’s most beloved stand-up comedians.

Her 2021 award winning “What a Surprise” was filmed as a special for Paramount+ and then nominated for Best Stand Up Special at the 2022 AACTA Awards. Gez also frequently features on prestigious stand up broadcasts such as the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala and Just For Laughs Australia.

In 2022, Geraldine was selected to perform at the Just For Laughs festival in Montreal, as part of its New Faces show alongside nine other handpicked comedians from around the world.

Gez is also a regular at making Australian’s laugh from their loungerooms, regularly appearing on hit TV shows such as Question Everything, The Hundred with Andy Lee, Would I Lie to You Australia, Have You Been Paying Attention and Thank God You’re Here. She also starred as Dr Stephanie Huddleston in Metro Sexual – a mockumentary series set in a sexual health clinic in which her warmth and deadpan style shine through every consultation.

From 2016 to 2021 Geraldine was a co-host on the breakfast radio show Breakfasters on Melbourne radio station RRR, and has made multiple appearances on ABC Radio, Triple M and the Hit Network.

After a stellar 2023 where she packed theatres and venues around Australia, and performed at the Edinburgh Fringe to rave reviews, Geraldine is embarking on a new tour in 2024 with her show Don’t Tease Me About My Gloves.

“Sends the audience home basking in a warm and appreciative glow.” ★★★★ ArtsHub, 2024

“Every year it feels like Hickey brings more of her authentic self, and this deeply personal offering is all the better for its honesty.” ★★★★ The Age, 2024

Hosted by David Bakker, supported by Daryl Peebles and Rob Braslin.
