Description

A two hour beginners workshop for artists and techs and how to ask for what you want when putting on your comedy show.

Do you have basic tech requirements but have never had a rehearsal with a technician before? Are you an artist and want to operate your own show but have never touched Qlab, a lighting desk or an audio desk? This 2 hour workshop is designed for artists and beginner technicians interested in learning the very basics of what a technician is and how to make your life and your crew's life a lot easier! No previous skills needed, you will learn all the minimum skills during the workshop.

Taught by Kellie-Anne Kimber KAKOMPOSITIONS -

Kellie-Anne Kimber (otherwise known as KAK) is an award winning freelance Sound Designer, Composer, Music Director and Touring Technician who has been working in the field for over 10 years. KAK has been the recipient of the Women In Theatre Program with Melbourne Theatre Company in 2017 and the Besen Family Artist Program in 2019. They have also been the Touring Technician for The Umbilical Brothers and Geraldine Quinn and has worked multiple arts festivals including Fringe World, Adelaide/Edinburgh Fringe, MICF, Sydney Comedy Fest, Just For Laughs and Adelaide Cabaret Festival.

Participants will gain:

  • New skills in advancing your knowledge to benefit the production value of your show

  • Understanding and practicing basic tech need

  • The ability for an artist to operate basic equipment in a venue

Requirements:

This workshop is aimed at beginner artists and technicians, anyone interested in production, comedy and upskilling.

Workshop participants must be over 18 years of age.

Workshops can be adapted to accommodate access needs, please get in contact with event organiser Britt Plummer and we can discuss.
