The Compliance Training Blindspot: From Delivered to Defensible
Description
Let's be honest
Very few L&D practitioners would call compliance training their favourite part of the job. That's fair. But being able to prove it happened is worth far more than it gets credit for, especially the day someone actually asks to see it.
The gap
There's a real difference between training that was delivered and training that's defensible. Most organisations only find out which side of that line they're on when someone else asks first: an auditor, a regulator, a board member who wants a straight answer.
What we'll actually do
This session is built around CORE, a framework covering Coverage, Obligation Clarity, Reporting, and Evidence. Rather than sit and listen, you'll spend the time applying it directly to your own organisation.
What you'll walk away with
A framework on which to base your compliance training
A gut check on where your own organisation's biggest gap actually sits
A starting compliance training plan template, yours to build on
Who it's for
This is built primarily for people working in L&D or HR, coordinator through to head of function. But if you carry this kind of responsibility, whether you sit in L&D, HR, or somewhere else entirely, particularly in sectors that are regulated or close to it, you belong in this room too.
Why this, why now
It's not going to be the most talked-about session on your calendar this month. But more HR and L&D people are taking this seriously than you'd think. ASIC handed down a record $830 million in penalties this financial year.
Training gaps rarely cause a regulatory penalty by themselves. But without visibility, it's a lot harder to see risk coming, know whether things are actually under control, or prove it to anyone who asks, including yourself.
Worth being one of the people who took it seriously.
What's included
A facilitated working session, morning tea, and the takeaway template.
Facilitator
Calvin Kotian is the founder of Tangerine Capability, a boutique L&D consultancy working with HR and L&D teams across regulated and semi-regulated sectors. He's seen the compliance training gap from the inside, having worked across insurance, oil and gas, healthcare, aged care, and defence before starting Tangerine — which is where a lot of this thinking comes from. He works deliberately across sectors, on the view that the real problem — knowing whether your training would actually hold up if someone asked — looks the same no matter the industry you're in.
Refund Policy
Full refund available up to 7 days before the event. Inside 7 days, tickets are transferable to a colleague but not refundable. If the event is cancelled or rescheduled by Tangerine Capability, a full refund will be offered.
