The Creative Work of Becoming a Waldorf Early Childhood Assistant
Event description
The Creative Work of Becoming a Waldorf Early Childhood Assistant
September 27, October 11 & 25, 2025
Saturday classes, 9am-4pm, in person at BACWTT
Join our course this fall to develop your understanding of the artistry and sensitivity needed to build a warm, safe, and enlivening space for the young children in your care.
Early Childhood assistants must develop the skills to work collegially with their lead teacher to impart beauty and order, provide wholesome rhythms, delight the child with rich storytelling, and create a lively classroom filled with the mood of work and play. The assistant plays a very important role working with the lead teacher in guiding the young child on a path of rightful development.
Coursework will include general introductions to the following topics:
· What does it mean to be an assistant?
· Introduction to child development
· Care of the classroom
· Singing through the morning
· What are the four foundational senses and why are they so important?
· The higher calling of being an assistant
· Why do we celebrate in the Nursery and Kindergarten?
· Discussing our busy hands
The Bay Area Center for Waldorf Teacher Training supports Early Childhood education by helping assistants acquire the skills and enthusiasm that are vitally important to healthy, thriving Early Childhood programs.
This is an introductory course, not a replacement for a certified Waldorf teacher training.
