The Deconstruction
Event description
The Deconstruction
Learn the improv long form, The Deconstruction (or “Decon”). This 6 week class will break down all the components and structure. The course will end with a performance of the form.
The Decon and the Harold are the two forms every improviser should learn. The Harold gave us modern sit-com structure while The Decon provided the toolbox for modern comedy’s more expansive, gonzo, and self-referential content.
This class is for anyone who wants to both practice more precise, connected listening and more punchy game-based scenes. This form consistently wows and delights audiences and often makes them think. How many improv shows have you been to that do that?
The class will end with a performance to showcase the form.
About the teacher
Adrian Vazquez started teaching improv in 2005. He has produced several improv shows including a musical improv show about a band in which the performers played all the instruments, a birthday-party themed puppet improv show with two ongoing narratives and cupcakes for the audience, and a fully-costumed D&D-themed show (Party Onward, now playing!). You can see him perform in a number of monthly shows at All Out Comedy. The Deconstruction is his absolute favorite form to teach to indie teams and advanced students!
