Description

The Drifting Cowboys is the brainchild of singer/guitarist David Landon, who credits Hank Williams as one of the all time great songwriters. Landon says, “How can you not love his tunes? They are all so memorable, catchy and relatable. I love singing and playing these tunes and never get tired of them, and getting to play with such a fine group of musicians as The Drifting Cowboys is a real treat!”

David Landon is one of the Bay Area’s premier guitarists and singers. He often performs solo as well as with his own Americana/Blues Band. He has also performed with artists such as Lenny Williams, 80s pop star Tiffany, Shanna Morrison, Mario Cantone, and Kenny Neal, and has worked in the studio with Taj Mahal, Maria Maldaur, Elvin Bishop, and Tuck and Patti, along with many other notable artists.

David Phillips is a modern innovator on the pedal steel guitar, bringing the expressive and difficult instrument into many styles of music, other than the weepy country & western or honky tonk music it is usually associated with. A Georgia native who started his music career as a lead guitarist, David Phillips eventually relocated to the Bay Area, where he has collaborated with such diverse bandleaders as Frank Black, Tom Waits, Charlie Hunter, and John Wesley Harding.

Candy Girard started fiddling in her teens, playing bluegrass and swing in her 20s, and went on to have many great musical experiences. She has toured with Shirley Bassey, Johnny Lee, and country music icon Hank Thompson. She also toured and played in Circus Flora with the Flying Wallendas. Candy has received the honor of Fiddle Player of the Year for both Los Angeles and California from the California Country Music Association, and has been inducted into Western Swing Hall of Fame as well as the South Australia Country Music Hall of Fame.

Joe Kyle Jr. cut his musical teeth in the early 1990s in San Francisco, when entry-level gigs were plentiful and taxicabs were large enough to accommodate a double bass. His musical education began in the trenches and the barrooms and dance halls of the Greater Bay Area, and continues to this day.

Joe has become an in-demand performer and session player known throughout the land for his superb feel, musical agility, adaptability, and propensity for slap bass and tragicomic asides. He may be the only bassist to have played with pianists Martin Denny, Al Kooper, AND Pinetop Perkins, although not with all on the same session, sadly.

Tickets are $20 advance, $25 at the door general admission; $15 for students/low-income individuals. Children under 12 are free. Advance tickets are available here, or if the show is not sold out, you may purchase your tickets at the door before the show.

Doors open 30 minutes before show time. We accept cash or Venmo only at the door.
