Event description

Adelaide Samba Encontro is proud to present:

The Drums of Estácio de Sá, with Rob Mair

This workshop will focus on the musicality of the bateria of Estácio de Sá, one of the oldest samba schools in Rio.

We will spend time exploring the key techniques and sounds for all instruments in the bateria, with guidance about how the different instruments support and complement each other.

EXPERIENCE:

Suitable for players with some experience and proficiency in at least one instrument.

WHAT TO BRING:

BYO Instruments, sticks, straps. Open to all the instruments of the bateria – surdo, repique, caixa, tamborim, chocalho, agogô.

If you do not own your own instrument, we urge you to reach out ahead of time, to one of the many baterias performing over the weekend to see if you can borrow one.

Rob Mair
