Event description

Join us for a 2-part learning experience exploring the dynamics of collaboration, drawing on research-backed Cobeo tools and methods, facilitated by Dr. Maya Haviland, Cobeo Founder and Research Lead in the Scaffolding Cultural Co-Creativity Project at the Australian National University (ANU).

Why Collaboration Matters

Effective collaboration is essential for addressing complex social, economic, and environmental challenges. However collaboration can consume valuable resources and sometimes reinforce existing problems, particularly for vulnerable communities.

These workshops focus on the human and relational aspects of collaboration. The Cobeo approach facilitates inclusive co-creation processes and provides frameworks for navigating difficult dynamics. Participants develop foundational skills and knowledge to work more effectively across differences and address challenges that require diverse perspectives and collective action.

Who Should Attend

This workshop module is open to:

  • Arts and Cultural Sector Professionals working in our local region, including those in galleries, libraries, archives, museums (GLAM), and other cultural organizations (subsidised places available)

  • ANU Students enrolled in the McCusker Institute SoCIETIE Curriculum

  • ANU Staff seeking to deepen their understanding of collaborative dynamics in their professional practice

You'll particularly benefit if you want to:

  • Better understand common dynamics, phases and stages in collaborative processes

  • Develop greater self-awareness of your own collaborative practice and patterns

  • Learn alongside peers from different sectors and perspectives

  • Reflect on collaborative experiences in a structured, supportive environment

  • Gain insights into why some collaborations succeed while others struggle

This workshop brings together participants from academic, professional, and cultural contexts in a mixed cohort peer learning environment, creating opportunities to explore collaborative dynamics through diverse lenses and experiences.
