Saturday 9th September, 7.30 pm

The Effect explores themes of depression and suicide, and contains both intimate and violent moments, with content that may be challenging for those who have experienced abuse. It is recommended for people ages 18 and over.
Short Straw Theatre Company acknowledges the Wurundjeri and Boon Wurrung people of the Kulin Nations as the Traditional Owners of the land on which we live, work, learn and create. We pay our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging. Sovereignty was never ceded. This always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
We will be providing the option to attend a Relaxed Performance of The Effect on Friday 8 September at 1.30pm.
This performance will have altered lighting and sound design to make the experience more sensory-friendly, including reduced volume and brightness, and slightly raised house lights during the performance. The audience will be able to talk and move freely throughout, or respond as they feel they need to in response to the material. People are encouraged to leave and return throughout the performance for any reason, whether the content is overwhelming or simply a break is required. There will be a dedicated zone for this, which will be clearly marked in the Front of House area.
There will be comprehensive information about the plot, characters, content and expectations provided in a packet about the plans for the Relaxed Performance available upon request. If you have any questions, please get in contact with us at shortstrawtheatreco@gmail.com
