The Effortless & Intuitive Body Dance workshop

This 2 day workshop is for all dance and movement lovers who would like to dive into movement analysis with the aim of moving their body with more effortlessness, ease, joint congruity and wisdom of martial arts concepts. The two days will be a container and space where movement research and experiential anatomy merge, offering a deeper understanding of the body in motion through the lens of the dancing body.

We will learn basic martial arts principles, do partner and hands-on exercises, there will be anatomy theory and we will dissect movement motives and patterns that ultimately will result in a longer dance phrase to be completed by the end of the workshop.

Come, be curious and explore:) There is no performative pressure at in this workshop. Everyone is in their own laboratory with their own body. A general skill of coordination and some dance experience would be of benefit. If you are curious, genuinely interest and feel joy in “nerding out” about the body with the group you are in the right workshop:) Dissecting movements and becoming more fluid, effortless, efficient and relaxed in your movement are the goal which automatically lead to heightened body awareness and ultimately to injury prevention as well.

Schedule:

Saturday 18 October:

10:00-13:00 morning session at Aurora dance studio

13:00-14:00 lunch (bring own lunch. Snacks and tea will be provided)

14:00 - 16:00 afternoon session at Aurora dance studio

Sunday 19 October

10:30-13:00 morning session at BEACH (location to be confirmed) and closing circle
