THE EMBODIED PRACTITIONER: Join Coby Greer, Trauma Counsellor and Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Instructor, for a gentle and practical program designed specifically for professionals working with survivors of childhood trauma, family and domestic violence, child sexual abuse and neglect and other forms of interpersonal violence.

Although practitioners may not have experienced the same forms of trauma as the people they support, the relational demands of trauma work can similarly contribute to becoming disconnected from one's own internal experience. Practitioners often become highly attuned to the emotional and physiological states of others while overlooking their own signs of stress, fatigue or overwhelm.

This program has been developed to provide practitioners with practical, evidence-informed strategies to support their own wellbeing while strengthening relational and trauma-informed ways of working.

WHO: This program is suitable for counsellors, social workers, psychologists, advocates, community services workers, support workers, and other practitioners supporting clients impacted by childhood trauma.

PROGRAM AIMS:

  • support practitioner wellbeing and self-care

  • reduce the risk of burnout, compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma

  • strengthen embodied self-awareness and nervous system regulation

  • enhance relational capacities that support trauma-informed practice

  • provide an experiential understanding of trauma-sensitive yoga

  •  increase practitioner confidence when referring clients to trauma-sensitive yoga programs

  • encourage reflective and sustainable professional practice
