Event description

The Embodiment Roadmap
Trauma-informed somatic processing and integration workshop

Sunday 14 April 2024
EQ Wellness Centre
Unit 1/ 51 Lancaster Road, Wangara
1-7pm (Please arrive 15 minutes earlier)
**LIMITED TICKETS**

We are blessed to live at a time and in a place with so many somatic (body-based) healing modalities available. Like in a “healing supermarket”, we can pick all sorts of breathwork, sound healing, immersions, hot and cold exposure, movement-based modalities, anger work/primal therapy, plant medicine and so on.

However, it has been my experience that without some fundamental knowledge of how it actually works, and without a roadmap to navigate it, it is all too easy to get lost in the maze. At best, we can find ourselves jumping from workshop to workshop without much impact on our daily lives, bypassing the hard bits. And in some cases, we can let the genie out of the bottle and surface our traumas without adequate support, knowledge and resources to deal with them.

This hands-on intensive and interactive workshop is for:

  • People who are starting to dabble into the somatic work and would like to know how to navigate it safely and effectively.
  • People who have been doing “the work” for a while, but may be feeling lost, stuck, addicted to, traumatised or re-traumatised by it, or struggling to integrate and embody.
  • People who would like to be better informed and resourced to get the most out of their somatic healing work.
  • Aspiring or beginner somatic practitioners who would like to deepen their knowledge and healing impact.

Packed with practical knowledge and ready-to-use tools, it will help you to:

  • Gain fundamental understanding of the nervous system, trauma and neuroscience of somatic healing.
  • Learn how to maximise the benefits and minimise the risks of common somatic healing approaches, how to process emotions and create safety resource within your own body, and how to integrate and embody the experience.
  • Strengthen your body-mind connection, bringing greater somatic awareness into cognitive healing work, and more cognition into somatic approaches.
  • Using a somatic processing template, develop your own customised protocol for on-demand processing of emotions by yourself.
  • Develop your own “embodiment roadmap” to map where you are now, reflect on where you’re headed (exploring the connection between trauma and purpose) and explore how will you get there (focusing on somatic processing techniques and behavioural changes you feel you need to make).

Plus, you will get to meet, connect with and learn from like-minded people :)

All material is based on both science AND deep personal experience.

Light and wholesome afternoon snack included, and a handout with key points, tools and resources will be provided.

What to bring

  • Water bottle;
  • Journal or notepad;
  • Comfortable clothes suitable for moving around;
  • An additional layer or two to use if you get cold; and
  • Anything you need for additional comfort (cushions, blankets etc).

About the facilitator

My name is Sergey. I was born in Siberia and have been calling Perth, Western Australia (the land of Whadjuk Noongar people) home for almost 20 years. I am a father, psychosomatic practitioner, an outdoor adventurer, a surfer, a martial artist and Corporate and community leader - a hybrid in many ways. I weave almost 20 years of corporate facilitation, leadership and public speaking experience and degrees in engineering, sustainability and linguistics with embodied processing, breathwork, psychosomatic and shamanic studies and practices.

I haven’t got it all figured out – I am as much on the journey as the next person. I’ve made plenty of mistakes in my own healing, lived through all sorts of coping mechanisms for my traumas, and still have shadows and unintegrated parts. Yet through my peculiar blend of experiences, practices and studies, I have developed an unwavering passion and unique and pragmatic approach to helping people deepen their connections to themselves, their purpose, their families, communities and Nature.
