Event description
You are welcomed to be a part of a community of men courageously stepping up to reassess who they are and what it means to be a man in today’s world. Building on a traditional talking circle, we utilise the practices of mindfulness, meditation, breath-work, body movement, and other explorative processes, to inspire greater mental and emotional wellbeing.
The Empowered Men’s gathering is a powerful and safe space where each man is supported through whatever may be occurring in his life. It's an opportunity to lean on the shoulders of other men, learning from their experiences, and igniting a sense of connectedness -- where we realise we are not alone in our challenges and successes.
The gatherings are where we work towards the EMPOWERED man; men who are willing to explore and express what lies beneath the masks we so often wear as men. leaders in their capacity to hold strength and weaknesses with compassion. Men who wear their hearts on their sleeves; courageously embracing vulnerability, even in the face of fear.
It takes courage to break the mould, to break free from the need to uphold unfulfilling expectations. But each time we do, we gain strength. Strength in our ability to honour who we are as humans, and in doing so, we give permission for others to do the same -- This is the practice of EMPOWERMENT!
** FINER DETAILS **
- Men are encouraged to bring a pen and notepad for note-taking and to wear comfortable clothing as we do sit on the ground for long periods of time. Many resources are available for those men who need assistance in finding physical comfortability.
- Each gathering goes for 3 hours total. 2.5 hours is dedicated to engaging in processes, whilst 30 minutes is dedicated at the end for us all to enjoy a spread of food together.
-------------------------Testimonials-----------------------------
"Entering a space filled with a group of other men was confronting. Initially, I would feel afraid of stepping into vulnerability and being seen and heard without any sort of emotional armour or protection. The beautiful thing about the space is that by hearing other men speak and watching them take off their own emotional armour, it gave me the courage to do the same. Often, in the stories from other men, I hear my own story reflected back to me. As a man, it is sometimes easy to feel emotionally isolated from others, or that our fears and anxieties are unique to us and not felt by other men. From the gatherings, I have come to learn that we are not alone."

"The Empowered Man Gatherings have really pushed my boundaries and taken me out of my comfort zone in such a good way. I have met some amazing like-minded individuals and most of all I have been able to talk about what's going on in my life. I have become more confident around people that I have never met. I am more open to introduce myself to strangers and have a conversation. I've also learnt that it's ok to not be ok. That is is fine to show emotions and your true self around others and that sometimes it is such a weight off your shoulders to just talk, to get it all out."
- Brady, 33 — Empowered Man Participant
"Jake facilitates a unique group experience centred around sharing, listening, breath-work, and rites of passage. He has the ability to unite a diverse group of men together in a safe and experiential environment by acknowledging each man for who they are and the gifts they bring. We are each encouraged to show up as our authentic selves and lead from a place of vulnerability."
- Hayward, 31 — Empowered Man Participant
"Try it out! Be brave enough to be vulnerable"
