The Event - Youth Ambassadors City of Ballarat

The Youth Ambassador Volunteer Program comprises of passionate, young people in and around Ballarat, aged between 12-25. Through advocacy and education the Youth Ambassadors work with and for the community to achieve the goal of creating a more inclusive and equal society for kids and young people locally. By raising awareness about issues such as youth homelessness, food insecurity, cyber bullying, gender-based violence, sustainability, and well-being the Youth Ambassadors strive to bring about positive change and inspire both young people and the broader community, to stand up for young peoples rights.

“The Event” is the Youth Ambassadors initiative to share our work with the community and take advantage of the beginnings of a new era. This event will give the community opportunity to witness the changes we have made, and will continue to make, in spaces, where young people’s voices go underrepresented.

Aware of the low engagement our age range experiences in community, we are working to bridge the gap between generations and bring a voice to our demographic. We, the City of Ballarat Youth Ambassadors, invite you to not only be present, but involved as we work towards a better tomorrow for everyone in our community.

Who are the Youth Ambassadors?

Youth Ambassadors are a group of young individuals who represent the voices, ideas, and concerns of their peers within the community. They actively work to bring about positive change by advocating for the issues that matter most to young people and developing projects that address those needs. Our role is to ensure that youth perspectives are included in decision-making processes and that young people have a platform to contribute to our community’s growth and well-being.

Why are Youth Ambassadors so important?

Youth Ambassadors play a critical role in bridging the gap between young people and the broader community. They ensure that the unique challenges and ideas of youth are heard and addressed. In a world where youth voices can often be dismissed or overlooked, Youth Ambassadors provide a vital platform for engagement, leadership, and action. Our work not only benefits young people but also strengthens the community as a whole by fostering fresh perspectives among the youth just like what I went through.

What is this event aiming to do?

Raising awareness to: 1) the importance and how to effectively engage young people in decisions that impact them, 2) acknowledge the work young people do in the community, 3) create networking opportunities to build better channels between young people and local agencies, stakeholders and organisations.
