Event description

Come and join Peter for an evening of adventure in Nepal; from trekking to Everest Base Camp to running the highest marathon on earth.

"You're crazy."

"You're too old."

"You will never make it!"

With these words of encouragement, 65 year old Batemans Bay local, Peter Counsell, successfully completed the Everest Marathon on the 29th of May; 69 years after Hillary and Tenzing first climbed Everest.

Come and join Peter for a visual presentation of his marathon journey. The magnificent scenery of the Himalaya provided opportunities for some stunning photos that he is eager to share with you.

Whether you are a runner, adventurer, traveller or just want to be inspired to get out of your comfort zone, this evening presentation is not to be missed.

It took 12 days of trekking to 5300 metres just to start the 42.2km marathon. The highest in the world. Though he struggled for over 8 hours, Peter was the first placed Australian.

Peter first visited Nepal 40 years earlier and has since completed many treks. For insights into what trekking in Nepal involves, this presentation is highly recommended.

All proceeds from the night will go towards Peter's fundraising efforts for the Australian Himalayan Foundation. AHF has been supporting health, education and environmental projects in Nepal for 20 years. Peter has already raised over $5000 but like the marathon, he just wants to keep aiming higher!

Canva have kindly donated the space to maximise fundraising, suggested minimum donation of $20.
