Event description

The Winter Solstice

is a time of turning inward

A time to slow down

To descend into the cave

To be with the dreams and inner guides

So that we can emerge with the return of the light,

wisdom to guide us through the next phase of the cycle.

We welcome and invite you to join us on this journey through the gateway of the west, the gateway of the setting sun, into the darkest night of the year.  Let us come together to hold witness and celebrate this potent moment on the wheel of the year.

Remembering and reclaiming our ancestral ways reconnects us to our interdependence with all of life. Restoring our innate custodian ship of the natural world as part of a greater ecosystem, one part of the whole.

The ways of our ancestors, the mystics and sages of our ancestral lineages, hold the most powerful and often simple gifts for us. Remembering and reclaiming our ancestral ways reconnects us to our interdependence with all of life.

This seasonal gateway invites us to honour the earth's natural rhythm of descent and death. Death is not this dark figure to be feared, but a deity and the equal other of life, woven of the same tapestry that makes up this great mystery. Embracing each small seasonal/cyclical death allows us to begin to know death in a way that brings us closer to the fullness of life. To fully step out of fear and into trust that life and death have got us.  The ascent is a natural result of our willingness to descend fully, die to what no longer serves us and emerge anew, over and over again.

To extend our awareness to encompass the reality that we are the ones that connect our ancestors and descendants, the remembering point of an ancient future that we are custodians of in this lifetime. Extending our perspective further still to encompass the greater dreaming of country, of lineages, of our roles and place in this time within the greater web and its unfolding.

Taste the medicine of the container, soak in these stanzas and let the resonance ring through you.

Descending, Dreaming & Dancing

Spiralling in and down

Through the layers

Sounds like the crunch of bones and gristle

Feels like the cold dark earth beneath our feet and a warm fire on our fingertips

Smells like smoke and tastes like soul soup

The mountains resound with song and howl

With cries let fly from centuries gone by

We are here to dance, to shake and quake the earth

As we dissolve unto her

Through the night we go, navigating the layers of discomfort

Deeper we go

Into the subtle and slow

Until we open into the dream space

The ancient ones guiding us inward

To truth

It is within the inner chambers

That the layers of discomfort dissolves

Here, truth emerges

Like pinpricks they emerge in the night sky

To guide us through

To release and let die

To remember how we fly

On the wings of inner vision

Held in the womb

Galaxies turning

The fire still burning

As the stars glow within our souls

And welcome us home

We become the vessels

Filled by the fertile void of creation
