  Professor Simon Wilkie, Dean, Faculty of Business and Economics, and Head of Monash Business School

  Professor Simon Wilkie’s career spans a remarkable array of roles that extend beyond the higher education sphere and include appointments as Chief Economic Policy Strategist at Microsoft Corporation and Chief Economist with the US Federal Communications Commission. In 2019, Professor Wilkie joined Monash Business School from the University of Southern California (USC), where he was Professor of Economics in the Department of Economics and Professor of Economics, Communication and Law in the USC Gould School of Law. He was previously head of USC’s Department of Economics and the USC Center for Communication Law and Policy.

  Dr Ingmar Wahlqvist, Acting Chief Commercialisation Officer and Senior Director, Monash Ventures

  Dr Ingmar is currently Acting Chief Commercialisation Officer and leads the Monash Ventures team at Monash Innovation. With a background as a medical doctor and an MBA, he brings over 20 years of experience in venture capital, strategy consulting, early-stage business creation and management, and pharmaceutical industry roles. His extensive expertise focuses on commercialisation and venture capital investment in biomedical and healthcare companies.

  Professor Russell Smyth, Deputy Dean (Research), Monash Business School

  Russell Smyth is Professor of Economics and Deputy Dean (Research) at the Monash Business School. He was previously Head of the Department of Economics and Deputy Dean (Academic Resourcing). His research spans a broad range of topics in applied microeconomics and has been published extensively in leading journals. He is a co-editor of Energy Economics, an elected Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences of Australia, a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher in Business and Economics and a recipient of the Honorary Fellow Award of the Economic Society of Australia.

  Professor Jesper Kjeldskov, Deputy Dean (Research), Faculty of IT, Monash University

  Jesper Kjeldskov is one of Australia’s foremost Human-Computer Interaction researchers with more than 200 publications in top ranked outlets. He has attracted over 6900 citations, an h-index of 41, and over $14 million in funding. For the last decade, his research has predominantly addressed challenges of sustainability, including water and electricity consumption in private households, and telepresence technologies for reducing our need for travel. Jesper is currently Deputy Dean of Research at the Faculty of IT. Prior to this, he was Research Director of Data61's Cyber-Physical Systems program, and Head of Department of Computer Science at Aalborg University.

  Professor Joseph Liu, Co-Director, FinTech Lab

  Joseph Liu is a Co-Director of the Fintech Lab and a Professor in the Faculty of Information Technology at Monash University. His research areas include cybersecurity, blockchain, and applied cryptography. Joseph has published more than 200 scholarly papers and received numerous accolades, such as the ICT Researcher of the Year Award and the IEEE Technical Achievement Award. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Joseph is the founding director of the Monash Blockchain Technology Centre and leads the Monash Cybersecurity Discipline Group.

  Professor Andreas Deppeler, Co-Director, FinTech Lab

  Andreas Deppeler is a Co-Director of the Fintech Lab and a Professor of Practice at Monash University Malaysia. His research areas include decentralized finance, financial inclusion, and the governance of emerging technologies. He has previously taught at NUS Business School in Singapore. Before returning to academia, he gained nearly two decades of experience in management consulting, banking, and technology across Europe, the United States, and Asia. Andreas holds an MSc in theoretical physics from ETH Zürich and a PhD in theoretical physics from Rutgers University. He is a CFA Charterholder.
