THE FIRE ON THE SNOW

The Fire on the Snow is the gripping true story of Scott's ill-fated, final expedition to the Antarctic. Based on original diaries and letters, Douglas Stewart's radio play was hailed a masterpiece when it was first broadcast in 1941.

"I am prepared to burn my boats with the opinion that The Fire on the Snow
is the finest-written radio play yet to have come out of Australia."
Leslie Rees, ABC Weekly.

The story of what happened when Scott, Wilson, Bowers, Oates and Evans set out on their 800-mile trek to the South Pole will be performed live on stage, with additional material from archival film and letters the explorers wrote to the wives they left behind.

"The Fire on the Snow contains the most eloquent and heroically moving

language yet heard in any Australian radio play."

Leslie Rees, ABC Weekly.

Directed by Deb Hunt with lighting, sound and images from Armando Licul.
