The Teen Firepit
Description
The Firepit
A small group for real conversations about how to grow as a person.

This is a small, committed group of young people aged 12-18 to work on the things that matter but rarely get taught such as the 3 kinds of friends we need in life, what is our relationship with money and where did it come from, how to build healthy habits and how to say 'no' without feeling bad.
Kevin will facilitate discussions with teens on the same journey to nail that new habit, mindset or try that new thing they've been wanting to do.
How it works
Each week brings a different theme, either brought up from the community, the teens themselves or what we feel is important.
Format:
4:20-4:35 Doors open and pre-session mingling
4:35-4:40 Quick intro - name, one thing about yourself (e.g. age, fave colour, favourite car) and one thing you're curious about (ideally related to the topic)
4:40-4:45 Quick wins ... however big or small
4:45-5:20 Kevin will facilitate the open discussion
5:25-5:30 Pick out a task to complete over the next week, relevant to your specific situation
5:30-5:35 Each person shares three things. One thing we liked, one thing we'd change and one thing we're curious about this session.
5:35-5:45 Post-sesion mingling/pickups.
Why it's different
The Firepit is a curated group. Every participant applies, and every participant is there because they're ready to show up and take that next step. The group is small by intention - so that we start to understand and trust one another as well as build that sense of safety.
Who runs it
Kevin - an educator with 10 years experience working with young people as a teacher, speaker, mentor, camp facilitator and workshop host.

FAQs
- Tell me about the application process.
The Firepit works because the group is small, trusted and genuinely committed. Applying helps make sure it's the right fit for your teen and for the group. It's to make sure the room is filled with people who respect what's shared in the room as much as the journey they're on, not making it hard to join.
Tickets are currently hidden. You may buy tickets once you've completed the application form and we've approved it. You'll then receive an access code to buy your tickets.
- Do I need to book every week?
Ideally, yes - this is just so that your teen develops trust and familiarity with the people there, so consistency matters. However, if you can't make it for whatever reason (life happens!), you'll have 8 credits in total when you purchase your ticket.
- How much is it and what's the 8-week bundle?
$320 for the 8-week block.
It's also included in the all-inclusive bundle alongside Side Quest Society (and Lock In). If your teen's enjoying both, the package is the better-value way in. Reach out if you'd like to know more.
- What about their phones?
When we start, everyone will be asked to put their phones in our phone box (or their bag, but it's a little less funny that way) and placed in a safe space. Your teen will be given a piece of paper to write things down if they need to. They can ask me to take photos and share it later so they can show and tell you all about it. If you need to reach your child urgently during the session, you'll have my number. Otherwise, I encourage you to leave them a text or voicemail for them to get to when they're finished.
- What if my teen is nervous and/or doesn't know anyone else there?
Feeling nervous is totally normal - anything new will always make us feel a little nervous. We want people who choose a pathway because they know it's the right thing for them, not because their friend is going to be there. This group is small and intentionally curated - no one's ever forced to share anything. They'll be encouraged to push themselves to take that leap of faith, but it will always just be an option.
- Is this therapy or counselling?
No. The Firepit is mentoring, not clinical support. It's led by an educator and teen mentor, not a psychologist. If a young person needs clinical help, Kevin will always say so and point you in the right direction.
- Can I watch my teen?
You may come in to drop your child off and pick them up, but parents aren't allowed to stay once we start sessions as this can change the way they show up.
- Any other questions?
Send across an email at kevin@sparknextgen.com - I love hearing from the community. There are no silly questions 🙂
