This is a small, committed group of young people aged 12-18 who show up each week to work on the things that matter but rarely get taught such as our relationship with money, speaking to our inner critic, who do we want to be in the future and how to communicate better.
It's not a class and it's not therapy. It's a room where teens engage in discussions as equals with other likeminded teens who are on the same journey.
How it works
Each week brings a different theme, either brought up from the community, the teens themselves or what we feel is important. Sessions run through the same sequence: a quick emotional check in and update from the previous week to acknowledge wins. Then we'll dig into the session through conversation and activity, wrapping things up everyone having a relevant task to do over the next week that's specific to their situation.
Why it's different
The Firepit is a vetted group. Every participant applies, and every participant is there because they're ready to show up and take that next step - not just fill a seat. The trust in the room is the whole point, and it's built by keeping the group small, committed and genuinely safe to be honest in.

Kevin - an educator with 10 years experience working with young people as a teacher, mentor, camp facilitator and workshop host.

- Tell me about the application process.
The Firepit works because the group is small, trusted and genuinely committed. Applying helps make sure it's the right fit for your teen and for the group. It's to make sure the room is filled with people who respect what's shared in the room as much as the journey they're on, not making it hard to join.
Tickets are currently hidden. You may buy tickets once you've completed the application form and we've approved it. You'll then receive an access code to buy your tickets.
- Do I need to book every week?
Yes - unlike the drop-in Side Quest Society, the Firepit runs as an 8-week block. The group builds trust over time, so consistency matters. Committing to the full block is part of what makes it work.
- How much is it and what's the 8-week bundle?
$320 for the 8-week block.
It's also included in the all-inclusive bundle alongside Side Quest Society (and Lock In). If your teen's enjoying both, the package is the better-value way in. Reach out if you'd like to know more.
- What about their phones?
When we start, everyone will be asked to put their phones in their bag and placed in a safe space. They can ask me to take photos and share it later so they can show and tell you all about it. If you need to reach your child urgently during the session, you'll have my number. Otherwise, I encourage you to leave them a text or voicemail for them to get to when they're finished.
- What if my teen is nervous and/or doesn't know anyone else there?
Feeling nervous is totally normal - anything new will always make us feel a little nervous. Especially when we don't know the people there, and there's a reason why we encourage teens to come on their own. We want people who choose a pathway because they know it's the right thing for them, not because their friend is going to be there. And sometimes just by having friends in the room that we've met outside, we might not share certain things in fear of judgement. This group is small and intentionally curated - no one's ever forced to share anything. They'll be encouraged to push themselves to take that leap of faith, but it will always just be an option.
- Is this therapy or counselling?
No. The Firepit is mentoring, not clinical support. It's led by an educator and youth mentor, not a psychologist. If a young person needs clinical help, Kevin will always say so and point you in the right direction.
- Can I watch my teen?
You may come in to drop your child off and pick them up, but parents aren't allowed during sessions as this can change the way they show up.
