Event description

The Peace Palace presents

THE FIRST SUPPER.

An experimental life drawing experience with live music by Sixth of the Sun

A feast for the senses. Immersive and sensual. Events come and go but experiences stay with you. This is not just any workshop but an invitation into a new way of interacting with creativity.

The evening opens with an arrangement of charcuterie, fruits, breads and candles set out along on the dining table for mingling nibbles whilst dinner guests set aside their contributions and settle in. We gather around the table and the models lay amongst the half-eaten tablescape to be captured in a guided life drawing session reminiscent of the Last Supper, soundtracked by Meanjin-based neo-soul septet Sixth of the Sun.

Drawing, painting, film, photography, sculpture, poetry and all art forms are welcome to be explored and encouraged to be shared throughout the process. Whether you choose to work solo on pieces of your own or pass your books around the circle for collaborative creations, this ephemeral experience is yours to make tangible in whichever way you choose.

The table is then reset into a communal dinner with offerings brought by each guest for a shared First Supper to mark the opening of the Peace Palace. In the spirit of building community, we ask that if you do choose to bring your own accompanying beverages or treats, you bring to share with friends, old or new. Preferring alternatives to alcohol, this is not a space to shame casual drinking or a strictly sober space but an invitation to join the conversation, with the intent to invoke inquiry about what and how much we consume

The Peace Palace is not a dry bar but a temperance temple, built on healthy hedonism and magic in moderation.

This same attitude on consumption is taken towards inciting social discourse around how we consume and participate in creative culture, asking those involved to reimagine our place in cultural capital to rewire the profit structures of creative production.

This event asks for your consent for your creations and content you may appear in to be used by any participant in the group, for sharing and expansion of the vision through social media.

Aesthetically reminiscent of medieval feasts and pagan rituals, the table space will be candlelit and ticketing consists of two dress code options at the same price point - Sun & Moon:
Sun - Warm, fire tones, adorned in gold
Moon - Cool, blacks, whites and greys, adorned in silver
