The Floorbook Approach; Planning with and for children
Description
The Floorbook Approach, developed by Dr Claire Warden, provides a powerful way to capture children’s ideas, theories, questions and learning. This interactive approach supports educators to plan with and for children, strengthening planning and documentation processes aligned with the planning cycle.
How do we truly listen to children? How do we make their thinking visible? How do we create curriculum that is meaningful, responsive and connected to children, families and community? Recognised within EYLF v2 as a meaningful form of assessment as learning, Floorbooks support children to develop awareness, ownership and appreciation of their own learning journey.
In this workshop, explore:
• The key principles, features and strategies of The Floorbook Approach
• How Floorbooks strengthen children’s agency, voice and participation
• How Floorbooks connect to the planning cycle
• Practical strategies for creating a responsive curriculum
Join Briony Brooks Education Consultant, who has been mentored by Dr Claire Warden for over 15 years, as she shares practical insights, examples and strategies to support educators and leaders to embed The Floorbook Approach within their own context.
The true power of a Floorbook is not in the pages we fill, but in the thinking, relationships and possibilities we make visible together.
