    Event description

Join DC Central Kitchen in celebrating the release of the latest edition of The Food Fighters: A History of DC Central Kitchen during a special evening at the Michael R. Klein Center for Jobs and Justice on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.

This expanded and revised second edition of this unique inside history of one of America’s most respected social enterprise nonprofits has the answers to how this unlikely pioneer of food recovery, job training, and healthy school meals has beaten the odds on its way to serving 50 million meals. Enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres and refreshments by DC Central Kitchen Catering and local hospitality partners during the evening, which includes a short program and reading by The Food Fighters author and DC Central Kitchen’s longtime Chief Development Officer Alexander Justice Moore.

All proceeds from the event benefit DC Central Kitchen’s programming. The first 75 VIP tickets sold will include a softcover copy of The Food Fighters signed by Mr. Moore. He’ll gladly sign previous versions or a copy of this latest edition purchased elsewhere, if you bring it along.

The book is now available via the publisher, at major online booksellers including Amazon and Barnes and Noble, and as an e-book (KindleNook). Please consider picking up a copy of the book and help spread the word!

    Getting Here:
Street parking in the neighborhood is limited. We highly suggest taking a ridesharing service to the event. If you are driving, we recommend parking in the James Creek Marina lot on 2nd & V Streets SW or in the Colonial Garage under the Riverpoint building (entrance is off 2nd Street just before The Point).
