Sphere closes the season by turning to the natural world with The Four Elements, a program inspired by air, water, fire, and earth. Featuring excerpts from Stravinsky’s The Firebird, along with music by Gustav Holst, Grace Williams, Edvard Grieg, and more, the season finale promises a powerful celebration of the forces that shape our world.

IMPORTANT STATEMENT ABOUT POP SONGS ON LIVESTREAM VIDEOS

Thank you for your interest in tickets to Sphere Ensemble's livestream performances! We created our first livestream video at the height of the pandemic in July 2020, and have run livestreams along with one performance from each of our concert weekends ever since. In this 26/27 season, we will still be livestreaming one concert from each concert weekend as usual, but unfortunately we will not be able to include the video or audio from any pop songs currently under copyright protection. For every pop song or classical work currently under copyright protection, we are required to purchase a synchronization license. The cost of obtaining these licenses and the fees we have to pay to the organizations that help broker these deals has risen to the point where we can no longer afford to continue paying for these for pop songs. We will still be livestreaming all of the classical works on the program.

What this means for the livestream videos: The videos will look and sound like they have for the past several years. When we get to a pop song, though, we will cut the audio. Once the pop song has ended, we will resume the audio. All told, typically between 6-9 minutes of music will need to be redacted from each concert video.

We want you to know that this decision was not made lightly- we love to share our concerts with our online audiences very much! But unfortunately we could not justify taking a loss in licensing fees alone to continue providing these concert streams.
