The Four Seasons Within Women’s Circle

A Journey Through the Shields of the Soul

Winter is asking you to go inward. Are you listening?

July is one of my favourite times to gather. There is something about the depths of winter. The shorter days, the stillness in the air, the way the world seems to ask us to slow down which makes our in-person women's circle feel especially necessary. Especially nourishing.

This month, we are going to use the seasons as our map. Not just the seasons outside us but the seasons alive within us. Because just as nature moves through Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter in the outer world, we each carry those same cycles inside us. Different qualities, different wisdoms, different ways of being.

Drawing on the Four Shields, which is a beautifully simple, pan-cultural framework rooted in rites-of-passage and earth-based wisdom, we will explore each season as a living aspect of who we are:

Spring — The Child Shield

Wonder, curiosity, beginnings. The part of you that is still learning how to trust.

Summer — The Adolescent Shield

Fire, longing, the search for identity. The part of you that aches to be truly seen.

Autumn — The Adult Shield

Harvest, discernment, the wisdom of relationship. The part of you that knows how to give and is learning how to receive.

Winter — The Spirit Shield

Stillness, mystery, deep listening. The part of you that is older than this lifetime, and already knows the way home.

These are not stages we move through and leave behind. They are always present, cycling, returning, asking to be met. On this winter evening, we ask: which season is alive in you right now? Which one has been waiting for you to turn towards it?

What We Will Do Together

I hold these circles as spaces to slow down, listen inwardly, and remember what we already know. The evening will move gently through:

A guided meditation to settle you into your body and open your inner listening
Storytelling and reflection that brings each season and shield to life
A short contemplative journey to meet the seasons in an embodied, sensory way
The crafting of a personal talisman as something to carry the wisdom of the evening home with you
Gentle, unhurried sharing within a safe and held container

Your Talisman

One of the things I love most about this work is the making. Using natural materials, you will craft a small personal talisman. This is not a jewellery making project to create something decorative, instead we will make something true. To let your hands do what words sometimes cannot. It becomes a physical anchor for whatever has been recognised or remembered during the evening, something you take home from the circle and keep close.

Is This for You?

This circle is for women who feel the pull to slow down. To listen more deeply to themselves and to the rhythm of the seasons. You don't need any experience with this kind of work. You only need a willingness to be present, and to follow what arises.
