The Freedom Trap
Event description
As part of TRAC’s ongoing contribution to social curiosity around life, faith and everything in-between, we are excited to partner with the Centre for Public Christianity to host our first free event for 2025.
Max Jeganthan is a speaker and writer for the Centre for Public Christianity and he will be exploring with us the nature, power, beauty and trappings of freedom, in a live event at The Playhouse Theatre on 11 February at 7:30pm.
Freedom has crept out of our constitutions and legal systems and into our eating, shopping and live-streaming habits. We have fewer limits than ever, and yet we remain anxious, grumpy and divided. Has our obsession with freedom distracted us from more important things? Can a society that’s drunk on freedom come back to its senses? What if freedom is a trap? And if it is, what can we do to free ourselves from it? The Freedom Trap explores these questions through the lenses of psychology, philosophy, behavioural economics and more, bringing ancient wisdom to our modern cultural moment.
Max’s book will be for sale on the night along with refreshments at the Playhouse Bar.
