About the book
The Friendship Paradox is a heartfelt, 100% Australian YA graphic novel about a physics-obsessed young person who takes a gap year job at a science centre and attempts to understand the wonderfully confusing world of friendship using the laws of physics. Set against the backdrop of Western Australia's science outreach community, it celebrates curiosity, science communication, and finding connection in unexpected places, while also celebrating the graphic novel form itself and the unique ways comics can tell stories that words alone simply can't.
About Aśka
Aśka is an ex-quantum physicist turned comics maker, visual storyteller, science communicator and educator. After eight years presenting science across Western Australia, they now create graphic novels, teach visual literacy, and explore how comics can make complex ideas accessible, engaging, and deeply human.
Whether you're a comics reader, science enthusiast, educator, or simply curious, we'd love to celebrate with you!
