The Future of Farming
Description
Event One — Land & Livelihoods
Title: The Future of Farming — Land & Livelihood
Subtitle: A public conversation about soil, food and livelihoods
Description:
Presented by the VFF Peninsula Branch, The Future of Farming is a conversation festival about what's reshaping how the Mornington Peninsula farms — and who gets to keep farming here.
Land & Livelihood is the first of two events in the series, focused on the hard conversations: green wedge zoning, peri-urban land-use pressure, data centres, farm diversification and succession, tourism, and the community's path forward. Seven forums, one day, straight talk.
Seven forums across the day:
Green Wedge: Intentions, Permitted Uses & Opportunities
Farming in Peri-Urban Areas
Diversification: Keeping Multi-Generational Farms Viable
Data Centres: Design & Resource Competition
Natural Capital, Landscape Health & Accountability
Tourism & the Visitor Economy
Community Voice and the Path Forward
Followed by a networking event until 6.00pm
Each forum runs as a moderated panel of four expert speakers followed by open-floor Q&A, with written questions collected on arrival.
Who it's for: farmers and graziers, market gardeners and horticulturalists, agronomists and advisors, researchers and educators, planners and policymakers, and Green Wedge advocates.
