The Future of Homelessness Practice Workshop - Frontline, Peer and Lived Experience Perspectives

As part of Homelessness Week 2026, Shelter WA is bringing together frontline workers, peer workers, people with Lived Experience, and others working in homelessness services to have a conversation about the future of homelessness practice in WA. 

The homelessness sector is facing growing demand, more complex challenges, and increasing pressure on workers and services. We want to hear from the people who see these realities every day and those who have experienced the system first hand. 

This workshop will provide a space to share ideas and insights about what is working, what needs to change, and what support people need to deliver and access better homelessness services. 

Together, we will: 

• Talk about the challenges and changes affecting homelessness services 

• Explore what workers, peer staff and people with Lived Experience need to feel supported and valued 

• Discuss how Lived Experience and peer expertise can strengthen services and create better outcomes 

• Share ideas for improving collaboration, advocacy, policy and practice across the sector 

By bringing together different perspectives, this workshop will help identify practical ideas and priorities for building a stronger, more responsive homelessness sector that meets the needs of people experiencing housing insecurity and homelessness.

Time: 9am - 12pm

Cost: Free to attend.

Registrations are required.

Morning tea and refreshments will be available.

Who is the event ideal for?

Frontline workers, peer workers, people with lived experience, and staff working in homelessness services.

Media and Photography 

A photographer will be at this event taking photos and videos for promotional, reporting, and event purposes. 

By attending, you may be included in photos, videos, or interviews. If you would prefer not to be photographed or filmed, please let a member of the Shelter WA team know when you arrive and we will do our best to respect your wishes.

The venue is wheelchair accessible, and we will do our best to support any additional accessibility needs. If you require mobility assistance, Auslan interpretation, assistive listening devices, sensory accommodations, or other supports, please let us know when you register or contact us before the event. 

You are welcome to bring a support worker. To help us plan seating and catering, please register your support worker separately. If you don't yet know the name of your support worker, you can simply enter "Support Worker [Attendee Name]" when registering. Please also include any relevant dietary requirements for them.
