Description

Forest & Bird - The Future of Tīkapa Moana Hauraki Gulf Hui

Waiheke Island

Who is giving the moana a voice this election?

The Hauraki Gulf / Tīkapa Moana / Te Moananui-ā-Toi is in serious trouble. This national taonga is facing growing and cumulative pressures, from bottom trawling and overfishing, sedimentation, caulerpa, climate change and warming seas.

This election, we have an opportunity to make sure the future of Tīkapa Moana is on the political agenda, and to show politicians that we value our moana and expect meaningful action to protect and restore it.

Join us on Waiheke Island on Tuesday 6th October to hear from experts about what's at stake for the Gulf and a moderated political panel with candidates from across the spectrum. Audience questions will be put directly to the panel, giving you the chance to hear how parties plan to tackle the issues that matter most for Tīkapa Moana.
Come along, get informed, and be part of the conversation this election.
