The [Game] Writers' Room
Description
The [Game] Writers' Room is a half-day gathering for game writers and narrative designers all across Aotearoa. Small roundtables, real conversations, with expert facilitators leading emerging topics in narrative design and game writing.
Designed for working writers, narrative designers, and those early in their game writing career, this event aims to bring the whole NZ game writing community together in one place.
With a rotating roundtable format with up to 8 per table, attendees choose the sessions most relevant to them – keeping it intimate, focused, and genuinely useful.
Topics include:
Writing for branching narrative
Breaking into game writing
Collaborating with developers and designers
Cultural authenticity in games
Writing for VR/immersive experiences
Part of Auckland Games Week 2026, organised by Sam Ramlu and Rick Stemm.
