Description

South Kaipara Landcare is organising The Great Possum Cull to help protect and restore our local environment. By reducing possum numbers, we can give our native trees, birds and other wildlife a better chance to thrive.

Gather your team and get out there from Friday 13th – Sunday 15th November to trap or hunt as many possums as you can on private land that you organise yourself. Then bring them along to the weigh-in and prize giving on Sunday for your chance to win some great prizes!

Over $1,500 in Hunting & Fishing vouchers and other prizes are up for grabs!

A huge thank you to Hunting & Fishing Westgate, who are proudly sponsoring the event and providing prizes. There will also be additional categories and spot prizes announced on the day, so there are plenty of ways to take home a prize!

Categories include:

  • Longest Possum

  • Heaviest Possum

  • Most Possums Culled

It’s a great opportunity for local families and the wider community to get involved in conservation, learn about responsible pest control and work together to make a positive difference.

Together, we can help protect the natural beauty of South Kaipara for future generations.

Gather your team, get hunting and see how many possums you can bring in!

Event Timing: Friday November 13th- Sunday 15th, 2026

Prize Giving & Weigh-In: Sunday15th November 10am - 12pm at Morelands Farm South Head.
