The Great Spring Clean Up – Waurn Ponds Creek

Join us for The Great Spring Clean Up at Waurn Ponds Creek and help give our local environment a fresh start this spring!

Waurn Ponds Creek is a 20-kilometre waterway that flows from the slopes of Mount Moriac through Waurn Ponds, Grovedale and Belmont before joining the Barwon River. With homes, schools, sporting facilities, shopping centres and universities located along the creek, litter can easily make its way into the waterway and spread throughout the wider catchment.

This community clean-up is a chance to get outdoors, meet others and make a positive difference to a place we all share. By removing litter before it enters our waterways, we can help protect local wildlife, support healthy creek systems and keep our neighbourhoods clean and connected.

After the clean-up, we’ll conduct a litter audit, recording the types and quantities of rubbish collected. This information will help us better understand the litter impacting Waurn Ponds Creek and support future environmental and community initiatives.

What’s happening on the day:

10:00am – Meet at East Belmont Saints Baseball Club (Pioneer Park, Geelong VIC 3220)
Collect your clean-up equipment and get ready to head out along Waurn Ponds Creek.

Please note ample free parking is available at this site.

10:00am–11:00am – Community Clean Up
Walk along the creek and work together to collect litter and rubbish from the surrounding area.

11:00am–12:00pm – Litter Audit
Sort and record the rubbish collected, helping us build a clearer picture of litter in the local area.

Bring along your friends, family or community group and help make a difference to Waurn Ponds Creek and the wider Barwon River catchment. Every piece of litter removed is one less piece that can enter our waterways and impact the environment.

This community opportunity has been proudly supported by the City of Greater Geelong, helping create opportunities for the local community to come together, get involved and care for the places we share.
