The Hat Box
Description
The Hat Box is a week-long living exhibition celebrating the art, craft and creativity of millinery.
Presented as part of the Australian Fashion Festival, The Hat Box invites visitors of all ages to step inside the world of hat making and discover what happens behind the finished piece.
Explore the tools, materials and artistry behind hat making, see a collection of hats up close, and watch a milliner work live during selected visitor sessions.
From traditional millinery tools and techniques to the creative process of shaping, making and finishing a hat, The Hat Box offers a rare opportunity to experience the craft in action.
COME AND DISCOVER
Whether you're passionate about fashion, curious about how things are made, fascinated by hats, or simply looking for something different to experience, everyone is welcome at The Hat Box.
Bring the family, bring a friend, or come and discover the craft for yourself.
The Hat Box is an all-ages experience, offering children, young people and adults the opportunity to look closely, ask questions and discover the creativity and skill behind millinery. Children must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult at all times.
WATCH A MILLINER AT WORK
During timed, ticketed sessions, visitors can watch a milliner working live within the exhibition.
See the tools in use, observe techniques up close and watch a hat take shape. It's an opportunity to see the patience, precision and imagination that goes into creating a piece of millinery.
MORE THAN A DISPLAY
The Hat Box brings together fashion, making and craftsmanship in an intimate exhibition that invites you to look beyond the finished hat.
