The Historic Evans School tour
Join AIA Colorado members for a tour of the The Historic Evans School.
The Historic Evans School project reimagines a 1904 Denver landmark as a vibrant mixed-use community destination in the Golden Triangle. Through careful adaptive reuse, the former school preserves its Renaissance Revival character while introducing lifestyle retail, office space, a restored historic auditorium event venue, and active public-facing uses such as Schoolyard Beer Garden and Schoolyard Café. The project highlights the role of community engagement, historic preservation, equitable design, safety, wellness, accessibility, and open-space integration in transforming a long-vacant civic building into a catalyst for neighborhood vitality and future development.
The program will address topics of preservation and adaptive reuse, design for equity, safety & wellness, and integration of community spaces and landscape to promote a vibrant and engaged destination for the surrounding neighborhood.
