Event description

ᯓ Imagine an Aotearoa where good, well-paid jobs in growing industries enable a great work–life balance. Workers have enough not just to get by, but to thrive.

:: The public hui...

The public hui, with Craig Renney, is an chance to unpack and understand the recent Government Budget and get to grips with the state of the economy - and what drivers would be possible to change for the better.

Let's aspire to creating the industrial and economic policies we can all be proud of, and to help build the foundations of an economy and a labour market that is genuinely more productive, sustainable, and inclusive.

The format will be a presentation, a time for questions and discussion, and an opportunity for further conversation with refreshments at the end.

Note, we are looking to confirm a second speaker on the workers relations kaupapa, to join with Craig.

:: Background...

Craig Rennie is an economist and the policy director for NZCTU Te Kauae Kaimahi. He is also the star of the podcast 'Locked Out with Craig Renney' and frequent guest on BHN.

Prior to his mahi with CTU, Craig's background includes a wealth of experience as a former advisor for the Minister of Finance, Grant Robertson as his Senior Economic Advisor. Craig has been identified as one of the key “back room players” in Jacinda Ardern’s Labour-NZ First-Green Government. He has also previously worked at The Reserve Bank, Treasury, and the Ministry for Business Innovation and Employment (MBIE).

Before immigrating to Aotearoa New Zealand in 2012, Craig worked, variously, in local government, the UK Audit Commission, and as a public-sector consultant.

:: Koha...

Admission by koha would be appreciated. We will be donating 50% of the koha to the Ōtūmoetai Social Supermarket.
