Breath Work in the Woods with Juliet Hollingsworth

A busy mind, restless sleep, a feeling that you can never quite switch off, becoming overwhelmed more easily than you used to, or feeling disconnected from yourself are all experiences that many people share. They are responses produced by a body that evolved in a very different environment from the one we live in today.

Your body communicates to you.

This workshop gives you four hours to listen.

We'll spend the afternoon together in the woods, wrapped up warmly beneath the trees, accompanied by live music from the wonderful Ayla Willow. Human beings have gathered outdoors for hundreds of thousands of years to sing, move and share experiences with other people. These behaviours remain deeply familiar to us, even though many of us have little space for them in modern life.

This is an intentionally spacious workshop. Nothing needs to be rushed. We have time to arrive together before the breath work begins, time for the breathing itself, and time afterwards to allow the experience to settle before you return to everyday life.

The centre of the afternoon is a guided 90-minute breath work journey.

We'll begin with a deeper style of conscious connected breathing that invites the body to work, respond and express itself. The second half gradually slows into gentler breathing, giving you time to settle and integrate the experience. Ayla's live music accompanies different stages of the journey and responds to the changing energy in the space.

Juliet trained as a Breath Work Practitioner with Peggy Dylan, who trained directly with Leonard Orr as part of his first practitioner training. This gives Juliet a direct training lineage back to the founder of Rebirthing Breathwork. She brings this tradition together with almost 20 years of therapeutic experience and an MSc in Consciousness, Spirituality and Transpersonal Psychology.

We'll begin by singing and moving together.

Singing together changes breathing patterns and can help us feel more connected to the people around us. Movement gives us an opportunity to arrive physically, rather than spending the first part of the afternoon entirely in our heads.

Our sharing circle follows, with plenty of time for conversation to unfold naturally. There is no expectation to speak for a particular length of time. We welcome you into an experience where curiosity matters more than confidence, listening matters as much as speaking, and every person brings something of value simply by turning up.

We'll finish with time to reflect together before returning home.

You'll spend the afternoon with a small group of people who arrive with different experiences, stories and reasons for being there. You don't need to know what you want from the afternoon before you arrive. The four hours give you space to notice what comes up when some of the usual demands on your attention fall away.

Please bring warm clothing, several blankets or sleeping bags, an mat to lie on, and anything else that will help you stay comfortable outdoors in November. The colder season forms part of the experience, reminding us that humans have always adapted to the changing rhythms of the natural world, rather than separating ourselves from them. We'll prepare for the elements properly and experience the woods as they are at this point in the year.

You don't need any previous experience of breath work. Come with curiosity and a willingness to spend an afternoon paying attention to yourself, your breath and the people around you.

About Juliet

Juliet Hollingsworth is the founder of The Burrow and a private therapist. For 20 years, she has worked with people experiencing stress, anxiety, addiction and major life transitions. Through this work, she became increasingly interested in a simple question: why do so many people struggle when their lives look perfectly fine on paper? Her work explores how human evolution continues to shape our needs, behaviours and wellbeing, helping people understand themselves through the lens of what it means to be human.

She holds an MSc in Consciousness, Spirituality and Transpersonal Psychology and trained as a Breath Work Practitioner with Peggy Dylan. Through this training, Juliet is part of a breath work lineage that traces directly to Leonard Orr and the development of Rebirthing Breathwork. Dylan was in Orr’s first practitioner training, placing Juliet just one step removed from the origins of the practice. She has also trained in authentic relating, spiritual leadership and embodied group facilitation. Alongside her therapeutic work, Juliet is the creator of Human Mismatch Theory, a framework that explores how many of the difficulties people experience today can be understood through the gap between the lives humans evolved to live and the realities of modern life.

Drawing on years of clinical practice, research and personal exploration, Juliet creates thoughtful, engaging workshops that help people make sense of their experiences and develop a deeper understanding of their own needs. About Ayla Willow

Ayla Willow is a Mother, home educator, dancer, singer/musician & lover of nature. She facilitates a remembrance of our wholeness through dance, song & reconnection to Self, Spirit and Nature. In 2015 she was called to a deep journey of descent and rediscovery through the portal of illness. She now lives a fulfilling & soulful life with a focus on facilitating people to reconnect with themselves & their soul’s journey through deep inquiry, self reflection & awareness, dance/movement, nature connection, ritual and ceremony, and embodied cyclical wisdom. The Burrow

I started The Burrow in April 2024, providing a space for people to come together to heal, transform, connect and celebrate.

Most of our events have holistic wellbeing in mind, all guided by skilled facilitators. We have CIC status, which is designed for businesses that aim to benefit the community, rather than private shareholders. CICs are a form of social enterprise, where profits are generally reinvested into the community or used to support the company’s social mission. In time, we hope to get funding to improve the facilities, which will make some events easier during the rainier months. Every ticket you purchase gets us a little closer to our bigger plans.

“I” refers to myself – Juliet. I am a transpersonal hypnotherapist passionate about nature and human connection as tools for healing. My journey began in finance, but I soon shifted to hypnotherapy, ultimately completing an MSc focused on consciousness, spirituality, and transpersonal psychology. This study encouraged open-minded exploration and the integration of ancient traditions, introspection, and critical thinking into my work. Inspired by Krishnamurti’s teachings on self-awareness and freedom from conditioning, I aim to make The Burrow a space where people reconnect with nature, each other, and themselves through self-inquiry and meaningful connection.
