The Inadequates & Apolline
Event description
An absolute banger of an evening with two of Australia’s finest folk trios who are just different enough that you won’t get bored

—
On Apolline’s upcoming trip from Melbourne to the big merino, the big banana, the big prawn, the site of the big paperclip, the big lawn mower and the big pineapple, they’ve projected that they’ll run out of fuel just outside of It’s Still a Secret in South Brisbane.
Wow, their motorbike must be unbelievably fuel efficient.
They’ve decided that the only way out of this predicament is to do a joint gig with the Inadequates so they can head back down to Melbourne and enjoy all of the big things again in reverse order.

The Inadequates are an award-winning trio known for their energetic performances and innovative acoustic sound. Growing rapidly within the Australian folk scene, they have been likened to bands such as Nickel Creek, Mumford & Sons and Punch Brothers (but much worse). With a catalogue of intricate original music focusing on their tight 3-part harmonies and technical skill, the boys are currently producing their first album which they plan on releasing within the next year (to rave reviews). They perform in their signature bright suits and feature banjo, mandolin, guitar and accordion, nearly all at the same time too (clever boys!).
—
Melbourne/Naarm based neo-trad band Apolline are a lively group of young folkies fuelled by the love of all things folk and copious cups of tea. Equipped with alluring voices, formidable tunes, and an extensive collection of colourful socks, the group views folk music with an exciting, genre-bending perspective. Their unique instrumentation of fiddle, cello and double bass is skillfully used to create highly intricate arrangements that range from energetic dance sets to hauntingly intimate songs, all of which draw in audiences from all walks of musical life.
