About the Speaker

Chris Nash was on air at 2SER the weekend it launched in October 1979, joining as a lecturer at NSWIT (now UTS) from ABC Radio Current Affairs, where he won a Walkley Award for the Lynch Affair during the 1977 election. Together with students and volunteers, Chris founded Razor’s Edge—a weekly two-hour current affairs program still on air today—providing the journalistic backbone for 2SER’s early development.

Chris later expanded into documentary filmmaking, online media, and scholarly research focused on environmental journalism and methodology. In 2016, he published What is Journalism? The art and politics of a rupture. He served as Director of the Australian Centre for Independent Journalism at UTS for over a decade before joining Monash University in 2008 as Professor of Journalism, retiring in 2017.

His current projects include the feature documentary Looking for Henry Lampard and a book on institutional power, The Politics of Silence.

Tina Quinn is a journalist, broadcaster, and host of Fourth Estate on 2SER 107.3FM—a weekly show and podcast examining journalism, media, and politics.

Currently a journalist and newsreader with ABC News, Tina has worked across major Australian newsrooms including SBS, Network 10, Seven News, and Crikey. As Executive Producer and host of Fourth Estate, she regularly interviews leading journalists and editors on the forces reshaping modern media.
